FREE workshop that helps to actively achieve best health & wellness while living with chronic pain.

This is a 6 week class, once a week on Tuesdays from 1:00pm to 3:30pm.

Plus a 15-30 minute Zoom Meeting orientation on Monday, June 21 at 1:00pm. This session is obligatory if you are not familiar with Zoom, and highly recommended even if you are. If you are not able to make the time, an alternate one-on-one orientation session can be scheduled by contacting [email protected] If a colleague is available, they will schedule a session with you soon. Otherwise, I will contact you upon my return on the 21st to schedule a session with you that day or in the morning of the 22nd. The Zoom link and information for the orientation session will be emailed out the morning of the 21st.

Due to some staff scheduling issues, there will be a delay in receiving your package of materials. Typically we would ensure that you had it a few days to a week before the workshop, especially during this current pandemic, but this time you will be receiving it the somewhere between the day before the workshop and a day or so after the workshop (depending on your location and if courrier has their own delays or not). We do apologize for the inconvenience. Do rest assured however that although it is ideal to have it in advance and to bring with you to the first class, it is not absolutely necessary to do so, and there is no need for reviewing anything in advance to the start date. Therefore if you wish to have it sit for a few days upon arrival due to the pandemic, you will still have enough time to do your assigned readings for the following week. Please however bring your book and handouts to week 2 and the remaining sessions.

Because of the way that we are funded, priority will be given to those living in Southeastern Ontario. About a week before the workshop starts, any leftover seats will then be available to those who live elsewhere in Ontario.

This workshop will be offered via Zoom Meeting. You will need to download the software, but it is free and you do not need an account. You must also be comfortable sharing your video. If you are not comfortable with doing so, please sign up for one of our sessions of At-Home Kits with Support Calls instead (if none are listed, please feel free to contact us to be placed on a notification list for future ones - [email protected]).

The Living Well with Chronic Pain Workshop provides information and skills to those living with chronic pain, helping them better manage their condition and achieve their best health and wellness.

This FREE workshop is for adults of all ages experiencing a wide range of chronic pain conditions such as musculoskeletal pain, fibromyalgia, repetitive strain injury, chronic regional pain syndrome, post stroke or central pain, neuropathic pain, among others. These workshops are also open to family members and caregivers. Participants meet in groups of 5 to 16 individuals for 2.5 hours, once a week for 6 weeks, and will also receive a free copy of the book Living a Healthy Life with Chronic Pain and the audio CD Relaxation for Mind and Body (both hard copies or electronic versions are available). The workshops are led by two trained leaders who are usually volunteers with chronic pain themselves.

Participants report improvement in their lifestyle and general health, as well as improved symptom management and better communication with their doctors. They also spend less time in the hospital compared to those who have not taken the workshop.

This workshop is an evidence-based self-management program originally developed at Stanford University and currently supported by the Self-Management Resource Center.
